If there is thunder, all swimmers must exit the pool immediately. Swimmers may enter the pool and the practice/meet may resume 20 minutes after the last thunder is heard.

If there is lightning, all swimmers must exit the pool immediately and everyone must leave the pool deck and area. They may wait in their vehicles. Swimmers may enter the pool and the practice/meet may resume 30 minutes after the last lightning is seen.

It is at the coach's discretion whether to cancel or delay a practice due to weather conditions.

It is the parent's responsibility to declare their athlete(s) as "Attending" by the deadline in order for them to swim in the meet! If an athlete is undeclared, they will be assumed as "Not Attending" and will NOT be entered into the meet, even if they show up.

Before registration closes = full refund minus processing fee
Day of evaluation = registration fee minus $20/swimmer
Within 5 scheduled practice days = registration fee minus $50/swimmer
After 5 scheduled practice days = no refund
(The first swimmer fee still applies to a family as long as one swimmer remains on the team)

Swimmers from separate households cannot register together. If a registration is under question, the Board has the right to ask for verification of address or guardianship. If it is proven or suspicious that a swimmer was knowingly registered under a different household, the Board reserves the right to remove the swimmer from the team, without refund.

Swimmers must be 5 years old by June 1st of the current season and must be no older than 18 on June 1st. 18-year-olds must still be in or have just finished high school.

Swimmers should be able to swim freestyle unassisted for 25 meters (1 length of the pool), tread water, and float. Swimmers new to the team may be evaluated before or at the start of the season.

USA Swimming/Jefferson Swim League Code of Conduct for Swimmers

The purpose of a code of conduct for swimmers is to establish a consistent expectation for swimmers’ behavior.

• I will demonstrate good sportsmanship at all practices and meets.
• I will respect and show courtesy to my teammates and coaches at all times.
• I will set a good example of behavior and work ethic for my younger teammates.
• I will be respectful of my teammates’ feelings and personal space. Swimmers who exhibit sexist, racist, homophobic, or otherwise inappropriate behavior will be faced with consequences.
• I will attend all team meetings and training sessions, unless I am excused by my coach.
• I will show respect for all facilities and other property (including locker rooms) used during practices, competitions, and team activities.
• I will refrain from foul language, violence, behavior deemed dishonest, offensive, or illegal.
• If I disagree with an official’s call, I will talk with my coach and not approach the official directly.
• I will obey all of JSL Bylaws and Rules and Regulations and USA Swimming’s rules and codes of conduct.

Swimmers should understand that if they violate this code of conduct, they will be subject to disciplinary action determined by their coaches, their team, and the JSL Executive Committee.

USA Swimming/Jefferson Swim League Code of Conduct for Parents

The purpose of a code of conduct for parents is to establish consistent expectations for behavior by parents. Parents should understand the important growth and developmental support that their child’s participation fosters and that it is essential to provide the coaching staff with respect and the authority to coach the team.

• I will set the right example for our children by demonstrating sportsmanship and showing respect and common courtesy at all times to the team members, coaches, competitors, officials, parents, and all facilities.
• I will get involved by volunteering, observing practices, cheering at meets, and talking with my child and their coach about their progress.
• I will refrain from coaching my child from the stands during practices or meets.
• I will direct my concerns regarding coaching to my child’s coach then, if not satisfied, to the appropriate supervisor.
• I understand that criticizing, name-calling, use of abusive language or gestures directed toward coaches, officials, volunteers, and/or any participating swimmer will not be tolerated.
• I will respect the integrity of the officials.
• I will direct problems or complaints during a swim meet to my team’s Meet Director in a respectful, professional manner.
• I will direct problems or complaints regarding JSL to my team’s JSL Representative in a respectful, professional manner.

Parents should understand that if they violate this code of conduct, they will be subject to disciplinary action determined by their team.

For practices, it is recommended that girls wear one-piece swimsuits and boys wear either a speedo or jammer style swimsuit. Additionally, swimmers may wear goggles and/or a swim cap.

For meets, swimmers are asked to wear either black or purple swimsuits to promote team unity. Additionally, if they elect to wear a swim cap, it is preferred that they wear their team cap. 

During every practice and at all swim meets, the baby pool is off-limits to everyone and the tennis courts and golf greens are off limits to all swimmers and non-club members.

Swim team members are not to enter the pool gate before 7:00pm.

There is a "Coaches Zone" on the pool deck. This is a five foot buffer on each end of the pool. Parents and spectators are NOT to enter the Coaches Zone during practices.

Swim team members must park down by the tennis courts first, then on the furthest outside row of spots for all practices until 8:00pm. No parking near the clubhouse is allowed prior to 8:00pm. If there is no available spot, please wait for the previous practice to finish and leave. See highlighted areas in the image below
